Forgot I don’t like Manhattans. And generally, birthdays make me feel uncomfortable because it confronts my distaste for high maintenance behavior. I also feel like I’m taking the credit for someone else’s work… it’s not like I gave birth to myself.
Otherwise, the best dish of oysters I’ve ever had and definitely one of my better weekends. I’m so grateful to find out that the older you get, presents prove to be less tacky and big parties become outdated. I was thrown a surprise birthday party when I turned 18, which was a kind gesture but since then, I’ve vowed to keep my birthdays as low key as possible. I’ve always preferred intimate settings; a glass or two over unjustifiable amounts of booze, select company and a bit of normalcy.
…
When I blow out my birthday candles, I can’t bring myself to wish for things, so I count my blessings instead. 22, bitches.
