Parc de la Villette

Stumbled upon Parc de la Villette (in the 19th arrondissement) the other day. Supposedly the second biggest patch of green in Paris, only after the Pére Lachaise Cemetery. This park was surprisingly modern, surrounded by activity and attractions such as an IMAX theatre, pricey restaurants, and free/cheap music festivals and concerts.
When we arrived, the first thing we realized was a huge projection screen standing in the middle of the park as an audience of couple hundreds sat beneath it. My friend and I followed the crowd and found our own little patch of green to sit on. A Chinese movie with French subtitles came on, and that was our cue to stop trying. We walked around the park some more, still in awe of this modern side of Paris. Later to find out that we were actually in attendance of Cinéma en Plein Air 2010. Why is Paris so cool? Stop it please, before I really cancel my flight and just stay with you forever. What a little tease.
